The Roosevelt Island app (and theisland.nyc) is a free local guide showing transit times, RIOC advisories, neighborhood history, and restaurant info for Roosevelt Island. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information about you.

What we collect

Nothing personally identifiable. The app has no user accounts, no advertising trackers, and no crash-reporting services. We do not place cookies for tracking purposes.

Your saved favorites and display preferences (such as theme and restaurant ordering) are stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and are not transmitted to us. If you choose to use the "save your settings link" feature, those preferences are stored under a random, anonymous key so the link can restore them on another device — no personal information is attached.

Network requests

When you use the app, your device fetches publicly available transit times, schedules, neighborhood news, advisories, and listings from third-party sources, including the MTA, NYC Ferry, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), and similar public services. These services may receive your IP address and standard request information as a normal part of any web request. We do not see, log, or store these requests on our servers.

Contact form

If you send a message through the optional feedback/contact form, the message you type — and any name or email you choose to include — is delivered to the site owner so they can respond. This information is used only to reply to you and is not used for any other purpose.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone of any age.

Third-party content

The app links to publicly available content from third-party transit agencies, broadcasters, and businesses. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the MTA, NYC Ferry, RIOC, or any agency, business, or organization mentioned. All trademarks and logos belong to their respective owners.

If this policy changes in the future, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
